Volunteers Wanted

YCG is abuzz with activity preparing for our upcoming Open day on Sunday 15th May. It's a great time to come along and volunteer at YCG – we are offering opportunities both in the gardens and doing other tasks related to running our gardens.

We are busy sprucing up the gardens before our event. Come and learn some skills and knowledge or impart some to us (hopefully both!). We are a Community and strive to provide a friendly, welcoming atmosphere where social interaction is just as important as tasks to be done. Food, drink and interesting conversation are provided for Morning tea! Any produce harvested is shared among the Volunteers. You can meet interesting people (well we think we are interesting!) and have the opportunity to work alongside our very knowledgeable and experienced Permaculture Volunteers. New gardeners very welcome! We love to teach and share what we know. Volunteering at YCG is a great way to learn whilst doing – learning while you get your hands dirty!

Of course if you do enough of that at home and want to get involved in other tasks involved in running our gardens there are many ways you can get involved. For example, administration, PR, catering, events, garden tour guides, workshop presenters, taking photos, social media, web design, garden art, fundraising. Come along and we can find a role that suits your skills and passions!

Volunteering at YCG does not have to be a weekly commitment – we welcome all contributions – whether you can come every week or pop in a couple of mornings a year... We welcome Volunteers during our opening hours - Monday 8-12, Tuesday 8-2 & Saturday 8-12.

Starting soon we will be offering periodic learning days where a hands-on workshop/working bee will be organised – attendees will be taught a skill whilst helping with a project at YCG (e.g., first one will be wicking beds and attendees will learn how to convert a garden bed into a wicking bed and help us convert one of our beds). We will post information about these opportunities on SpareHarvest 
